Rafael Khakimov, Director of the scientific programs of the KIF, Timur Akulov, Director of the department of the foreign relations of the President of the RT, Executive director of the KIF Rafic Abdrakhmanov and others participated in the meeting.
During the meeting there was an exchange of opinions concerning the condition and perspectives of federalism in Belgium and Russia Presence of similar features in the federal device of Russia and Belgium – reflection in a state system of ethnic variety has especially been marked. Despite uniqueness of the Belgian federalism, presence of subjects of the Federation outlined on linguistic borders, experience of preservation of languages available in this country and cultures certainly deserves studying.Mr. Vincent Mertensde Wilmarsnoted, that the Belgian politicians and scientists also keep up processes in the field of federal construction in Russia with the big attention and study, though also small to historical measures, the Russian experience in this sphere. Finishing a meeting, its participants emphasized, that experience of joint researches which was expressed, in particular, in carrying out joint Russian – Canadian – Belgian conferences on May, 17-18, 2004, deserves attention and should be continued.
Publications of the KIFon problems of federalism in Russia and the world have been handed the Ambassador of Belgium in the Russian Federation.
